$350 million dollar, three-story with penthouse hospital, featuring a new cardiovascular surgery center. A 550,000-square-foot four story medical office building, a 300,000-square-foot ancillary building and a four-story parking garage, for a total of 1.26 million square feet. This project features the first time earthquake-resistant beams, imported from Japan, are used in a U.S. hospital. The beams are made of steel crossbar surrounded in cement and wrapped in a metal tool to keep the tube from bending. The unbounded brace-frame structural system resists up to twice the lateral force for the same weight of materials.
